Router Restart vs. Factory Reset: What Is the Difference?
A restart refreshes your router without erasing settings; a factory reset returns it to its original configuration.
HowToFixWiFi
Restarting your router
Unplug the router, wait about 30 seconds, and reconnect power. This can clear temporary problems while keeping your network name, password, and other settings.
Factory resetting your router
A factory reset erases custom settings and restores the defaults. Use the reset button only when you are prepared to configure the network again or your router manufacturer recommends it.
Before you reset
Check the router label or your provider’s setup instructions for the default credentials and configuration steps. When in doubt, try a normal restart first.
